Holbeck Ghyll is a 19 th century hunting lodge built in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale, there is a wealth of Oak paneling and original stained glass. Privately owned by David and Patricia Nicholson since 1988, this fine hotel has twenty-one rooms, most with lake views, all en-suite and with every modern amenity. Six rooms in the lodge are more modern they interconnect and have large bathrooms with separate shower cubicles. The Sheiling is a house in the grounds with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge and kitchen, ideal for a family or two couples.

Two elegant relaxing lounges, which overlook the lawns and lake Windermere, are ideal for afternoon tea, canapés and aperitifs before dinner.

Dining is an integral part of ones stay at Holbeck Ghyll. Awarded a coveted Michelin star, 3 AA rosettes and featured in the Good Food Guide, the restaurant is rated as one of the best in England. The original oak paneled dining room has wonderful lake views. The Terrace restaurant has French doors on to a patio overlooking the lake providing an idyllic setting for lunch or evening aperitifs.

An exclusive health spa comprises of two treatment rooms utilising Espa products, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and relaxation room. Tennis court, croquet lawn and putting green are in the grounds.
